The Rural Electrication (Amendment) Act, 2021

An Act to amend the Rural Electrification Act, 2003. [24th March, 2021
ENACTED by the Parliament of Zambia. 1. This Act may be cited as the Rural Electrification
(Amendment) Act, 2021, and shall be read as one with the Rural
Electrification Act, 2003, in this Act referred to as the principal
Act. 2. Section 4 of the principal Act is amended by the insertion of
the following new subsections immediately after subsection 2:
(3) The Minister may give the Authority general or specific
directions relating to the performance of its functions and
the Authority shall give effect to these directions to the
extent that the directions are not inconsistent with this Act. (4) The Minister may enter into performance contracts with
theAuthority for a specified period which shall be consistent
with the provisions of this Act. 3. Section 6(1) of the principal Act is amended by the —
(a) deletion of paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) and the substitution
therefor of the following:

(i) energy;
(ii) finance;
(iii) local government;; and
(b) renumbering of paragraphs (d), (e), (f) and (g) as
paragraphs (b), ( c), (d) and (e), respectively.
