An Act to amend the Persons with Disabilities Act. [12th June, 2026 ENACTED by the Parliament of Zambia. 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Act, 2026, and shall be read as one with the Persons with Disabilities Act, in this Act referred to as the principal Act. (2) This Act shall come into operation on the expiry of the term of office, or removal by the Minister, of the members of the Board holding office prior to the enactment of this Act, after which the Minister shall appoint the members of the Board in accordance with this Act. 2. Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by the insertion of the following new definition in the appropriate place: “youth” has the meaning assigned to the word in the Constitution. 3. Section 13 of the principal Act is amended by the— (a) deletion of subsections (1) and (2) and the substitution therefor of the following: (1) The Board of the Agency consists of the following part-time members appointed by the Minister: (a) a representative each of the ministries responsible for— (i) information and media; and (ii) community development and social services; Enactment [No. a representative each of the ministries responsible for— (i) information and media; and (ii) community development and social services; Enactment [No. 69 of 2026 759 Short title and commen- cement Cap. 65 Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Cap.1 Amendment of section 2 Amendment of section 13 GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBIA ACT No. 69 of 2026 Date of Assent: 4th June, 2026 Single copies of this Act may be obtained from the Government Printer, P.O. (b) a representative of the Attorney-General; (c) two representatives of non-governmental organisations engaged in matters relating to this Act; (d) a representative of an organisation representing youths; and (e) a representative of an organisation representing persons with disabilities. (2) The ministries, institutions and organisations referred to in subsection (1) shall nominate their representatives for appointment by the Minister.; (b) deletion of subsection (3); and (c) renumbering of subsections (4), (5) and (6) as subsections (3), (4) and (5), respectively. 4.
