ENACTED by the Parliament of Zambia. 1. (1)This Act may be cited as the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (Amendment) Act, 2026, and shall be read as one with the Patents and Companies Registration Agency Act, 2020, in this Act referred to as the principal Act. (2) This Act shall come into operation on the expiry of the term of office, or removal by the Minister, of the members of the Board holding office prior to the enactment of this Act, after which the Minister shall appoint the members of the Board in accordance with this Act. 2. Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by the insertion of the following new definition in the appropriate place: “Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants” means the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants established under the Accountants Act;. 3. Box 30136, 10101 Lusaka, Price K4.00 each. Patents and Companies Registration Agency (Amendment)758 No. 68 of 2026] (1) There is constituted the Board of the Agency which consists of the following part-time members appointed by the Minister: (a) a representative of the ministry responsible for commerce; (b) a representative of the Attorney- General; (c) a representative of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants; (d) a person with expertise in matters of intellectual property; and (e) three persons from the private sector with knowledge and experience in matters relevant to this Act.; (b) insertion of the following new subsection immediately after subsection (2): (3) The members referred to under subsection (1) (a) to (c), shall be nominated by their respective ministry, institutions and organisations for appointment by the Minister.; and (c) renumbering of subsections (3), (4) and (5) as subsections (4), (5) and (6), respectively.
