An Act to amend the Land Survey Act. ENACTED by the Parliament of Zambia. 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Land Survey (Amendment)
Act, 2026, and shall be read as one with the Land Survey Act, in
this Act referred to as the principal Act. (2) This Act shall come into operation on the expiry of the term
of office, or removal by the Minister, of the members of the Board
holding office prior to the enactment of this Act, after which the
Minister shall appoint the members of the Board in accordance
with this Act. 2. Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by the insertion of
the following new definitions in the appropriate places in alphabetical
order:
“House of Chiefs” means the House of Chiefs established
under the Constitution;
“Law Association of Zambia” means the Law Association of
Zambia established under the Law Association of Zambia
Act;
“Zambia Institute of Estate Agents” means the Zambia
Institute of Estate Agents established under the Estate
Agents Act; and

Section 6 of the principal Act is amended by the—
(a) deletion of subsections (1), (2), (3) and (4) and the
substitution therefor of the following:
(1) There is established the Survey Control
Board which consists of the following part-time
members appointed by the Minister:
(a) the Chairperson, who shall be a registered
land surveyor with knowledge and
experience of at least ten years in land
surveying in the Republic;
(b) a representative of the ministry responsible
for lands;
(c) a representative of the Attorney- General;
(d) a representative of the House of Chiefs;
(e) a representative of the Zambia Institute
of Planners;
(f) a representative of the Law Association
of Zambia;
(g) a representative of the Zambia Institute
of Estate Agents;
(h) a representative of the Surveyors Institute
of Zambia;
(i) a representative of a civil society
organisation dealing with customary
land advocacy, environmental protection
or gender;
(j) a representative of a religious organisation;
and
(k) one person from the private sector with
knowledge and experience in land
management. (2) The Surveyor-General shall be—
(a) an ex-officio member of the Board; and
(b) secretary to the Board. Cap.

(3) The ministries, institutions and organisations
referred to in subsection (1) shall nominate their
representatives for appointment by the Minister.
(4) The Minister shall appoint the Chairperson
from among the members of the Board.;
(b) insertion of the following new

subsection (4):
(5) The members shall elect the Vice-
Chairperson from among themselves.
(6) Seven members shall constitute a quorum
at a meeting of the Board.; and
(c) renumbering of subsection (5) as
subsection (7).
