An Act to amend the Business Regulatory Act. [12th June, 2026 ENACTED by the Parliament of Zambia. 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Business Regulatory (Amendment) Act, 2026, and shall be read as one with the Business Regulatory Act, in this Act referred to as the principal Act. (2) This Act shall come into operation on the expiry of the term of office, or removal by the Minister, of the members of the Board holding office prior to the enactment of this Act, after which the Minister shall appoint the members of the Board in accordance with this Act. 2. Section 15 of the principal Act is amended by the deletion of subsections (1), (2) and (3) and the substitution therefor of the following: (1) There is constituted the Board of the Agency which consists of the following part-time members appointed by the Minister: (a) a representative each from the ministries responsible for— (i) commerce; and (ii) local government; Enactment Business Regulatory (Amendment) [No. 29 of 2026 633 Short title and commencement Amendment of section 15 Cap. 427 GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBIA ACT No. 29 of 2026 Date of Assent: 4th June, 2026 o. 29 of 2026 633 Short title and commencement Amendment of section 15 Cap. 427 GOVERNMENT OF ZAMBIA ACT No. 29 of 2026 Date of Assent: 4th June, 2026 (b) a representative of the Attorney-General; (c) a representative of the Zambia Association of Manufacturers; (d) a representative of the Economics Association of Zambia; (e) a representative of a civil society organisation engaged in matters relevant to this Act; and (f) one person from the private sector with knowledge and experience in business regulation. (2) The ministries, institutions and organisations referred to in subsection (1) shall nominate their representatives for appointment by the Minister. (3) The Minister shall appoint the Chairperson from among the members of the Board referred to in subsection (1)(c) to (f). 3. Section 18(4) of the principal Act is amended by the deletion of the word “seven” and the substitution therefor of the word “five”.
