The Anti-Gender-Based Violence (Amendment) Act, 2026

An Act to amend the Anti-Gender-Based Violence Act.

ENACTED by the Parliament of Zambia.
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Anti-Gender-Based
Violence (Amendment) Act, 2026, and shall be read as one with
the Anti-Gender-Based Violence Act, in this Act referred to as
the principal Act.
(2) This Act shall come into operation on the expiry of the term
of office, or removal by the Minister, of the members of the
Committee holding office prior to the enactment of this Act, after
which the Minister shall appoint the members of the Committee in
accordance with this Act.

2. The Schedule to the principal Act is amended in —
(a) paragraph 1, by the deletion of subparagraph (1) and the
substitution therefor of the following:
(1) The Committee consists of the following
part-time members appointed by the Minister:
(a) a representative each from the ministries
responsible for —
(i) social services and child protection;
(ii) health; and
(iii) education;
(b) a representative of the Gender Division;
(c) a representative of the Attorney-General;
(d) a representative of the National Prosecution
Authority;
(e) a representative of the Zambia Police
Service from the victim support unit;
(f) a representative of the Human Rights
Commission;
(g) a representative of the House of Chiefs;
(h) a representative of a civil society
organisation involved in matters
relevant to this Act; and
(i) one person from the private sector with
knowledge and experience in matters
relevant to this Act.; and
(b) paragraph 3, by the deletion of subparagraph (4) and the
substitution therefor of the following:
(4) Seven members shall form a quorum at a
meeting of the Committee.
