Short title

An Act to amend the Lands Act

ENACTED by the Parliament of Zambia. 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Lands (Amendment) Act,
2015, and shall be read as one with the Lands Act, in this Act
referred to as the principal Act. (2) This Act shall come into operation on 1st January, 2016. 2. Section four of the principal Act is amended—
(a) by the deletion of subsection (1) and the substitution
therefor of the following:
(1) The President shall not alienate land under
subsection (2) or (3) of section three without receiving
consideration, in money, for such alienation and ground
rent for such land except where the alienation is for
a public purpose.; and
(b) in subsection (2)—
(i) by the insertion in paragraph (g), immediately after
the word “purposes”, of the words “by the
Government”; and
(ii) by the insertion in paragraph (h), immediately
after the word “resources”, of the words “by
the Government”. Cap. 184

3. Section sixteen of the principal Act is amended in paragraph
(b) of subsection (2) by the deletion of the words “seventy-five”
and the substitution therefor of the words “twenty-five”.
