An Act of Parliament to provide for the acceptance by Kenya of an agreement with the United Kingdom
for the taking over of the liability for certain pensions of overseas officers and to provide for matters
related thereto
WHEREAS on the 29th day of March, 1977, an agreement, entitled the Public Officers’ Pensions (Kenya)
Agreement (hereinafter referred to as “the Agreement”) was entered into between the Government of the United
Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Kenya concerning certain public officers’
pensions;
AND WHEREAS a copy of the text of the Agreement has been laid before the National Assembly;
AND WHEREAS it is expedient that provision should be made for the acceptance by Kenya of the Agreement and
for the carrying out the obligations of Kenya thereunder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of Kenya, as follows—

Ratification of the Agreement
The Agreement and the signing of the Agreement for and on behalf of the Government of Kenya are hereby
ratified. 3. Financial provisions
There shall be charged on and paid out of the Consolidated Fund without any further appropriation than
this Act all payments required to be made by Kenya under the Agreement. 4. Acceptance of modifications of the Agreement
The Minister is hereby authorized to decide upon and accept, on behalf of the Government of Kenya, any
modification, addition or exception to the Agreement in its application to particular cases or classes of
cases in accordance with Article 7 of the Agreement:
Provided that the text of every such modification, addition or exception with any notes thereon which the
Minister may consider to be appropriate shall be laid without delay before the National Assembly. 5. Repeal of Cap. 197
The Overseas Service Act (Cap. 197) is hereby repealed. 1
