MINING OPERATIONS (GOVERNMENT PARTICIPATION)
(REPEAL) ACT, 19931
AN ACT to repeal the Mining Operations (Government Participation) Decree, 1972
(N.R.C.D. 132) as amended and to make provision for the continued operation of
Ashanti Goldfields Corporation (Ghana) Ltd., and Ghana Consolidated Dia
mond Ltd., under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) and to provide for related
matters. 1. Repeal
The following enactments are repealed by this Act:
(a) the Mining Operations (Government Participation) Decree, 1972
(N.R.C.D. 132),
(b) the Mining Operations (Government Participation) (Amendment) Decree,
1973 (N.R.C.D. 151), and
(c) the Mining Operations (Government Participation) (Amendment) Decree,
1973 (N.R.C.D. 206). 2. Mining operations of A.G.C. Ltd. and G.C.D. Despite the repeal under section 1,
(a) the Ashanti Goldfields Corporation (Ghana) Limited established under the
Mining Operations (Government Participation) Decree, 1972 (N.R.C.D.

shall, subject to subsection (2) of this section, continue to exist as companies
incorporated under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) and accordingly the
Act shall continue to apply to the two companies;
(b) the rights acquired or held by a person and the obligations subsisting
against a person by virtue of the Decree referred to paragraph (a) immedi
ately before the coming into force of this Act shall continue to be held and
